DOCTA Disaster and Relief Benefit Tournament

This is the season to open your heart and give back! The Durham- Orange Community Tennis Association is offering the opportunity to give back to the community and have fun doing it at the DOCTA Disaster and Relief Benefit Tennis Tournament on December 20-22, 2013 at Duke Indoor Tennis Center, 190 Wannamaker Drive, Durham, NC. Proceeds benefit the American Red Cross to support disaster victims.

This is a sanctioned tournament by the NCTA and USTA. Please register online at Tennislink at www.usta.com. The tournament ID is 703907313. The deadline to register for the tournament is Sunday, December 15 at 11:59 pm. Singles, doubles, and mixed doubles opportunities available.

This is one of two indoor events this winter that you will have the opportunity to play and practice before league begins. The METC Indoor Tennis Tournament will be held in January 2014. So, join the fun of tennis and let's play.


Obesity Awareness Free Tennis Play Day

Join us this Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Rock Quarry Tennis Courts, Durham for the Obesity Awareness Free Tennis Play Day from 9 am to 11. Youth, ages 5 to 18 years, and adults of all ages welcomed. Fun games, prizes and snacks.

NECD Summer Youth Tennis Program 2013

The DOCTA will host the North East Central Durham Summer Youth Tennis Program. The program will teach the basic rules of tennis, keeping score and tennis etiquette. Skills development and concentration will be forehand and backhand, ground stokes, serving, volleying and playing matches. Children will be grouped according to their age and skill level. See registration form here. Program begins June 15.


DOCTA Clinic Registration 2013-14

Spring has begun and outdoor fun is here! DOCTA Clinics are now being offered beginning April 8 through November 2013 with tennis director, John McLean. Register now and enjoy the fun of tennis and develop new skills and improve on your current skills. Tennis is a sport for a lifetime; and we want to help you with your tennis game. Senior Tennis Day - May 8, 2013 - Carrboro

Carrboro Recreation and Parks and Durham-Orange Community Tennis Association is sponsoring a Senior Tennis Day on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 9-11am at Wilson Park Tennis Courts. This event is Free! Join us for a fun tennis event for players aged 50 and above! Bring a friend or two and meet other tennis players from this area, join in a game of doubles, play with lots of different people and win prizes! Light refreshments will be provided to all participants. Please bring a racquet if you have one. Some loaners will be temporarily available.


DOCTA Annual Tennis Carnival - May 18, 2013 - Durham

Please join the Durham-Orange Community Tennis Association (DOCTA) for the kickoff of tennis month! We will host our Annual Tennis Carnival at Rock Quarry Tennis Courts on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 9 am to 1 pm. Tennis activities and games will be available for youth and adults of all ages. Prizes will be awarded and lunch will be served. Help us to grow tennis in Durham and Orange Counties and join us for this great event! YMCA Spring Tennis Play Day - March 23, 2013



Registration has opened for the 2013 Spring Season for the Chapel Hill 10-and-Under tennis league.

We hope that you'll participate by leading teams for this season. The instructions for creating your team are below. The Chapel Hill League will begin on April 6 and last through May 22. The first practice will take place on March 26 (6:00 pm – 6:45 pm for 8-and-under and 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm for the 10-and-under group). Matches will take place on the weekends. Exact days of matches will be determined closer to the start of the season based on input from team coaches. If you know of other parents, college students or community volunteers who may be interested in leading a team, please let me know. If you have questions or suggestions for the season, please contact me at ijones@docta.org.

Instructions for Creating A Youth Tennis Team in TennisLink

1) Go to the Team Tennis Home Page

2) Scroll down to the bottom of the page to "Options"

3) Click on "Become a Coach/Manager"

4) Complete the Coach/Manager registration form.

When you register, you'll establish a login number and password for TennisLink.

If you have one, enter your USTA membership number or Team Tennis number.

If don't have either, TennisLink will assign you a TennisLink ID number so you can login.

5) Click "Submit"

6) Once you're registered, login to TennisLink.

7) Go to "My Options" and Click "Create a New Team"

8) Search for the Jr. Team Tennis program by entering the information in the search criteria. You should see a list of leagues.

9) Click on "Spring 2013 Chapel Hill 10 and Under"

10) Complete the form and write down the team number generated by the system.

11) Click "Save".

12) In about 48 hours, the team will be viewable in TennisLink.

NCCU Men's Tennis faces Duke

The NCCU Men's Tennis Team will face the Duke University Men on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 5 pm at Duke Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. With 3 new players this year, NCCU is up to the competition. Under the leadership of Coach D. Curtis Lawson, NCCU is poised for a great season. Upcoming home team matches this month include: February 16 - Prebysterian College at 1 pm and February 23 - Norfolk at 3 pm. Rounding the February schedule, NCCU will face UNC-Chapel Hill at Chapel Hill on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 6 pm. College Tennis - Duke -vs- Tennessee

Don't miss the "Blowout" tennis match of the year! Duke will play Tennesse on Friday, February 8, 2013 @ 6:00 pm at Duke Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. Tennessee is undefeated and it will be an exciting college tennis match. Free pizzas will be provided and fun prizes given away. Join the Durham-Orange Community Tennis Association (DOCTA) in cheering on our Duke players! Please bring a youth or fellow adult tennis player to attend this special event.
