D.O.C.T.A. BENEFIT TO SUPPORT HURRICANE RECOVERY

The Durham-Orange Community Tennis Association (DOCTA) will sponsor one of it’s’ most exciting special events this year, the DOCTA Fall Indoor Tennis Classic for juniors and adults on November 19-20, 2005 hosted by Duke University, Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. The deadline for this non-sanctioned benefit tennis tournament is November 12, 2005. An entry form can we obtained on the website at www.docta.org or picked up at your local public park and recreation office or public park.

DOCTA’s mission is to promote and develop tennis in the Durham and Orange County areas. What better way to raise money for Hurricane Recovery than to have fun playing tennis! Net proceeds from the event will go directly to the local Durham and Orange County offices for the American Red Cross to support a family re-located in each county due to Hurricane Katrina or Rita to help rebuild their lives. Board Chair, John McLean stated this is the least we could do to help those who have lost everything and had to re-locate. As a community, he said, we must give back.

Key supporters of this event include Duke University and Durham Parks and Recreation. However, greater support is needed to defray the cost of the event, so that the maximum dollars can go directly to the families. Tax-deductible donations can be mailed directly to DOCTA, P. O. Box 61245, Durham, NC 27715 or you can contact the Association at (919) 547-4354 for more details. Tax ID # is 56-2052941.
