DOCTA
SALUTES VOLUNTEERS
At a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on October 1, 2002 at
Golden Corral Restaurant, the Durham-Orange Community Tennis
Association Board of Directors expressed appreciation to
over 20 volunteers who supported grass roots tennis in the
community and participated in the 2002 events sponsored
by the Association. Certificates were awarded to all volunteers.
Special appreciation was noted for the Durham Parks and
Recreation League Coordinator, Tammy Brown, for her commitment
to tennis in the community. Also, a plaque was award to
the wife and children of the late Cardoza McCollum. Cardoza
McCollum was chairman and advisor for the Southeastern Tennis
Association for over 25 years. He passed away in September
2002. His commitment to grassroots tennis for African American
juniors exemplifies the efforts put forth many years ago
to support youth and to growth tennis.
