Net Top Honors from North Carolina Tennis Association
January
31, 2007 Chapel Hill, NC- The United States Tennis Association/North
Carolina office recently announced their awards recipients
for 2006. Eight award recipients are from Durham and Orange
County! The award recipients were recognized last weekend
at The Annual Awards Luncheon during NC Tennis Association’s
2007 Tennis Weekend. The Luncheon was held in the Pinehurst
Resort’s Carolina Hotel at 12 noon on Saturday, January
27, 2007.
The
following individuals and organizations were recognized:
David
Senerchia (Durham)- Junior Male Tennis Sportsmanship Award
for the 12’s;
Tori Helpingstine (Chapel Hill)-Junior Female Tennis Sportsmanship
Award for the 14’s; Marianna Pernia (Durham) -Adult
Female Sportsmanship Award;
Jason Zoladz (Hillsborough), Tennis Pro and High School
Coach at Orange High, received the Educational Merit Award;
Orange County Recreation and Parks received the Outstanding
Parks and Recreation Department of the Year; and Gonzolo
“Gonzo” Arriagada, Tennis Pro at the Chapel
Hill Tennis Club, received recognition as the Tennis Professional
of the Year.
The
Durham Orange Community Tennis Association (DOCTA) received
two awards: The Member Organization of the Year and the
Junior Tournament of the Year Award for the DOCTA Open Jr.
Tennis Challenge/Nike Tour. “Because of the awesome
effort and support of our Board of Directors, Community
Tennis Coordinator, four Parks and Recreation Departments,
public and private tennis organizations and tennis advocates,
these awards are well deserved. We would not have reached
our mission without their support” said DOCTA Board
President, John McLean.
